One of the Millennium Development Goals that St. Timothy’s is helping address is: “To work towards eradicating extreme poverty and hunger.” Operation Sharehouse is a sponsored event of the Stop Hunger Now organization. It gives St. Timothy’s and other community churches a way to make progress towards this goal.
On October 24, 2009, St. Timothy’s will host the Operation Sharehouse assembly line, where meals will be prepared for those who are hungry. Our goal is to package 15,000 meals in a two hour shift. This is a great, hands-on experience to help those who are hungry in this world. It is also a wonderful event for people of all ages.
Elementary school children are encouraged to help out with their parents. We will need people to help with set up, to measure portions, to walk back and forth with packages of food, to pour and to package. It is an assembly line format, the method is easy to understand and everyone can help with these simple tasks.
Held in Drake Hall, the event will begin at 9 a.m. and over 50 volunteers will be needed. There will be jobs for everyone!
